The Kerry Way Cancer Research Walk has gone from strength to strength within three short years and has raised over €200,000 for Cork Cancer Research Centre. The 2008 event was a tremendous success with an astounding €119,880 raised and plans have now been finalised for the 2009 event.
The 2009 Kerry Way Cancer Research Walk will again take place over three days: Friday July 24th, Saturday July 25th and Sunday July 26th.
This year we will base the walk in one central town rather than previous years where we moved between four different towns. The three days of guided walks will start and finish each day in Kenmare and will incorporate some of the Kerry Way trails.
The Kerry Way Cancer Research Walk 2009 is a great opportunity to raise funds for Cork Cancer Research Centre as well as to meet new people, possibly catch up with last year's friends, have fun, and keep fit. Each day the scenery will differ, however you are guaranteed beautiful countryside and panoramic views along "the way". Like last year, you have the option to walk one day, two days, or all three days.
Uniquely 100% of all sponsorship collected by walkers goes directly towards cancer research. All walkers cover their own costs; event organisation and marketing costs are kept to a minimum and are covered by other fundraising activities leading up to the event.

For ten years Cork Cancer Research Centre (CCRC) has been focused on saving lives by bringing new cancer treatments and / or preventative measures to cancer patients.
The CCRC doesn’t have any source of annual state funding and therefore is extremely reliant on the voluntary fundraising efforts made by the public and events such as The Kerry Way Cancer Research Walk. The momentum provided by events such as these provides the drive and encouragement for breakthroughs to be made and for improvements to be made in the quality of life for all cancer patients.
