FUNDRAISING - HOW TO SMASH YOUR TARGET
Your challenge is more than just a matter of physical exertion. By participating in The Kerry Way Cancer Research Walk, you are pledging to raise as much sponsorship money as possible for cancer research programmes at Cork Cancer Research Centre.
It would be fantastic if each walker participating in The Kerry Way Cancer Research Walk this year could raise €400 for cancer research! If we have a minimum of 250 walkers participating again this year, each fulfilling this challenge, together we will be able to raise €100,000 towards our research and help fight this terrible disease.
€100,000, for example, could help fund the development of a new endoscopic device that could treat colorectal cancer and lead to its testing in a Phase 1 clinical trial. The benefit for the patient could mean a less invasive treatment, which means no need for surgery or no need for chemotherapeutic treatments.
We’ve seen what people have raised for Cork Cancer Research Centre through this event before - we know people can do it and obviously we need the event to raise as much as possible for cancer research. This is only a guide though. We ask that you raise as much fundraising money as you can, as soon as you can. We would not exclude you from taking part if you did not reach the €400 target prior to the event – we simply ask that you commit to trying to raise that amount by participating in the event.
Many people find this aspect of the event daunting, but by being original and planning ahead, the fundraising can be as rewarding and enjoyable as the event itself. To make the task of fundraising less daunting, we have sample fundraising plans, tips and ideas of how to fundraise, to spark the imagination and help you get started:
